The Lauten ST-221’s are small diaphragm tube microphones packaged in pairs. They feature interchangeable cardioid and omnidirectional capsules, military grade vacuum tubes and premium high-resolution electronics.
The ST-221’s combine the characteristics of the small diaphragm and the tube, making them an ideal choice for recording instruments. The small diaphragm allows the ST-221’s to exhibit an extremely fast response to changes in sound pressure; the tube lends the microphones their character, adding warmth and depth. The end result is a natural yet nuanced sound.
Internally each ST-221 Torch features custom tuned 15.25mm diaphragm cardioid and omni capsules, which produce a unique conversion of sound waves. The subminiature military grade vacuum tube generates a fantastic tone and adds a unique character in your recordings. Finally, the custom-wound output transformer and premium electronics come together to give you exceptional performance and original sound.
