The RØDE NTG-1 is a lightweight condenser shotgun microphone, specifically designed for professional applications within the film, video, television, voice-over and ENG industries.

The NTG-1 provides an electronically balanced output stage and operates on 48V to the P48 standard. The NTG-1 offers wide bandwidth and a controlled polar response coupled with low noise SMT electronics. The NTG-1 is extremely lightweight making it ideal for mounting directly to video cameras (with optional accessories) or a Boom pole.

The NTG-1 comes complete with mount and windshield. The supplied windscreen effectively suppresses wind noise when recording outdoors in moderate conditions. Optional accessories are available for more demanding applications.

If you are after perfect sound for vocals and fine detail this mic is for you
it has a brilliant sensitivity range and will pick up the faintest reverberation of the tiniest of objects such as the harmonic resonance of a pin as it back-flips after being dropped on a table

too sensitive for you?
kick down the amplifier 20 decibels and pop on the included wind shield and you have the perfect live recording mic, whilst i don't recommend swinging anything around like a lunatic, it has respectably low handling noise and could easily be used as a stage mic

i was a little worried that my high performance pc parts would interfere with my recordings ( 20+ decibel fans, electronic noise from my water-cooling, ect )
but i was pleasantly surprised
the recording pattern of this mic is superb, and it will ignore sound from the side extremely well so with careful positioning you will only hear exactly what you want to hear.

i'm using this for pod-casting
( and anything i can make an excuse for, such as skype everyone that hears my recordings goes nuts and wants to know how i got such clean audio, well my secret's out! )

considering this is the baby in the ntg line, i cant even imagine what the ntg 3 sounds like, or the super quality ribbons all i know is the ntg 1 is absolutely superb compared to any mic i've previously owned and allot of the 'professional' audio streams on popular websites
